Nash Metropolitan

Produced by Austin in the 1950s for the American market and sold as a Nash, the Metropolitan is a distinctive but not particularly well known car today.  I've loved these quirky little commuters since first seeing a picture of one several years ago but this is the first time I've ever seen one for real.

I was delighted to be able to take some pictures and have a good look around this right hand drive model that somehow escaped being exported.  My knowledge on these isn't huge, but I suspect this is also an early model since it has no opening boot.

The final part of my report on the show, and to conclude here's some of the detail shots I took.

Ford Capri trick reflection shot.

A great view, but took a while for people to not be in the way.

Yet another Motornutz club member, this one with a Ford Granada

A Pontiac.

Morgan on the left and a Wolseley 25 on the right

Wolseley 25

Toyota MR2

Morris Minor 4 door

Part 4.

This was a star of the show for me.  It's a Landrover series 1, but rather than restore it to within an inch of its life, the owner appears to have just dealt with jobs as they come up and use it, as it was meant to be used.

These two were attractive for very different reasons.  The Morris Minor on the right appeared to be sporting period alloys while the Zodiac on the left had correct mild custom touches.

The 1980s are back, have you heard?  This delicious Capri is here to show you why.

The only VW Beetle at the show, and a modified one at that.

Hillman Minx was for sale.  Tidy and original looking.

Two baby Austins in the shade, an A30 on the left and a Seven on the right.

Triumph Dolomite.

The organiser of the Motornutz club owns this Mk1 Fiesta called Brum.  The spots on the floor are nothing to do with the car, rather they're to do with the weather.

Suspected replica AC Cobra using a Ford Sierra donor.  One eagle eyed club member spotted the Sierra steering rack.  Still an awesome bit of kit.

Part three.

Another BMW and this one with vast wheels.  I really do need to swot up on BMW models, but if I'm honest as a car they don't particularly interest me.

This Morris Oxford was a very handsome thing.  Again, owned by a super friendly chap who was more than happy to talk about his car.

This Mercedes was vast, you didn't realise just how vast until you walked down the length of it.  Full of seventies luxury including a healthy 8-track collection.

A Hillman Minx in a superb colour combination.

Fantastic little period door markers.

The oft derided MG 1100.  Looked like it had only just been collected from the showroom.
